Journal of Law, Policy and Society Holds Editorial Board Meeting to Review Volume 1 Progress and Discuss Future Development

The Journal of Law, Policy and Society (JLPS) held its Editorial Board, Editors, Assistant Editors, and Reviewers Meeting on July 7, 2026. The meeting brought together 26 members of the Editorial Board and editorial team from around the world to review the progress of Volume 1, discuss the journal's editorial management and operations, recognize outstanding editorial contributions, and exchange ideas for the journal's continued development.
The meeting opened with welcome remarks by Dr. Krishna Bista, Senior Executive Vice President of the Society of Transnational Academic Researchers (STAR), Professor at Morgan State University, Dr. Bista welcomed all Editorial Board members, editors, assistant editors, and reviewers and expressed his sincere appreciation for their dedication, professionalism, and collaborative efforts in supporting the launch of the inaugural issue of JLPS.
Dr. Bista emphasized that the success and long-term sustainability of a scholarly journal depend on the collective commitment of editors, reviewers, authors, and the broader academic community. He also shared STAR's vision of building an international scholarly platform that not only publishes high-quality research but also supports scholars in their professional development through collaboration, mentorship, leadership opportunities, and academic engagement. He expressed his hope that JLPS and the STAR publishing platform will continue to provide meaningful opportunities for scholars around the world to advance their academic careers and contribute to the global exchange of knowledge.
Following the welcome remarks, Dr. Jing Chang, Managing Editor of the Journal of Law, Policy and Society, presented an update on Volume 1 and provided an overview of the journal's editorial management and operations.
Dr. Chang reported that 12 manuscripts were submitted for Volume 1, with four manuscripts accepted following a rigorous editorial screening and peer-review process. She reaffirmed the journal's commitment to maintaining high academic standards, editorial integrity, and a transparent peer-review process to ensure the quality and credibility of every published article.
She also introduced the journal's editorial workflow and operational procedures, including manuscript processing, editorial coordination, and communication with authors and reviewers. The meeting reviewed the roles and responsibilities of reviewers and editors and discussed strategies to improve editorial efficiency, consistency, and collaboration across the editorial team.
To further strengthen the journal's editorial operations, Dr. Chang introduced two new editorial leadership positions: Associate Editor for Editorial Operations and Associate Editor for Peer Review Management. These positions are opened and intended to enhance editorial coordination, standardize editorial practices, strengthen peer-review management, and support the journal's continued development.
The meeting also recognized outstanding editorial contributions through the presentation of Certificates of Appreciation to editors and assistant editors whose dedication, professionalism, timely communication, and high-quality editorial work made significant contributions to the preparation of Volume 1. The Editorial Board expressed its sincere appreciation to all editors and reviewers for their valuable service and commitment to maintaining the journal's academic standards.
During the open discussion, participants exchanged ideas on journal promotion, reviewer recruitment and retention, editorial development, future special issues, and planning for Volume 2. The discussion reflected a shared commitment to continuously improving the journal's editorial quality, strengthening international collaboration, and expanding its global visibility.
As preparations begin for Volume 2, JLPS welcomes original manuscript submissions from scholars worldwide. Researchers, practitioners, and graduate students are invited to submit high-quality interdisciplinary research in law, policy, governance, public administration, human rights, international affairs, artificial intelligence, and related fields. The journal also welcomes scholars who are interested in serving as reviewers, editors, and collaborators to join its growing international editorial community.
